Project Details
The Kiawah Life Plan Village project is a senior living facility located at Freshfields Village, Kiawah Island, South Carolina. J.H. Hiers Construction scope of work includes clearing and grubbing, mass grading including surcharge, site utilities, turn lane, curb and gutter, and asphalt paving.
Challenges and Unique Details
The project requires a large quantity of offsite borrow to build it to final grade. J.H. Hiers Construction was able to secure a borrow source within a few miles of the site to better serve this project. We also worked closely with Balfour Beatty Construction to reduce the construction impact on the local resort community as much as possible.
Project Results
The project is in the early stages of construction. Currently, earthquake drains are being installed as well as some storm drain.
